Subject: RE: header toggle switch Deere vs Gleaner

Brazilton KS

The Deere 00 and 10 series had the switch oriented like a hydraulic lever....back side for up, front side for down.  The way it has been ever since the levers left the left side of the dash.

Gleaners (and Allis strippers) have the switch oriented so that when the lever is in neutral the top of the switch is up and the bottom of the switch is down.  Makes some sense, I suppose.  When you are actually working, however, the lever is cranked around 90 degrees to the front, so now the front of the switch is up and the back of the switch is down, which is backwards by any standard I can think of.

I've been told that current Deere's have it messed up again.  Haven't personally run a new one so I don't know.

I'm in the same boat with whoever posted about slamming their hand against the right side of the cab whenever I want an emergency shutdown of the header.  Lots of years in Titan combines and old habits die hard.
