South Texas | When my dad and mom took a summer vacation, my brother and I decided the Ford 9N loader was on backwards. So, some cutting, welding and plumbing later, it worked fine. We just spun the seat around backwards and sat there. We built two joysticks. Left stick was fore-aft for up/down; left-right for shifting overdrive gearbox and wrist fore-aft dumped or rolled the bucket. Right stick had a D-handle to turn left-right and that ran a valve to a cylinder to provide steering. It also had an H pattern for shifting. We moved the clutch (left) and brakes (right) so they acted as normal pedals. Used it for years back in '70's.
Fast forward to 1998. Bought a small Bobcat. It took me two months to quit dropping the lift arms to stop and made a lot of left turns trying to lift a load. I'm still not sure what I'd do in a panic situation so really try to avoid it.
Thanks for the chuckle. Stetts
