Subject: RE: size of grain head

Probably depends most on what type of beans you are running. I used to run a 1440 with a 15ft head, which I am trying to sell now, recently upgraded to a 1680 Long shoe. If you are cutting a bunch of green stemmed beans, I would say stick with the 15ft. + you can get up and down the road a lot easier without having to take it off. However if your cutting all dry beans, it will handle the 17.5 ft. no problem. My experiece is that about half the time I wish I had a bigger head, but when I would get in some green rough down beans I was glad I had the fifteen foot. As a side note, I would not have considered a 17.5 ft. head untill I put some disrupters in, they were like adding an additional 25-30 horses in beans, best money I ever spent.
