9650W Feeder house growl

Subject: Check this, mine did this too.


For about two weeks, the deep moan/growl would go away when I shut off the throat. I'd get out let my hand run it and I'd listen whil he cut. One day while cutting beans, the noise all of a sudden went away. Then I knew something changed. It was the two bearings in the double sheave on the left hand side that drives the throat. The one that takes the belt from under the cab and drives the belt going down the left side of the throat. Simple repair, two bearings, and it got hot. You can have it off, fixed and back on in about 1 hr.

My suggestion would be to loosen the tensioner under the cab for the intermediate belt and take off the header drive belt and roll the double sheave. Any roughness and i'd change them.. Keep in mind the grease fitting are for the cams inside and not the bearings.
