NW Washington | You would be lucky it you killed a Canadian thistle with anything, including herbicides, hoe or a moldboard plow. Getting rid of the seed heads will help control the spread of seeds, but it also spreads via roots and rizones. It is one tough weed. Roundup and banvel works pretty good. The Clopyralid herbicides lilke Stinger work well too, but you have to be careful as they persist in the soil and in the forage. | |
