Subject: Re: Feed value of foxtail??

In a normal year foxtail will cut the sale price of dairy quality hay by about a third, plus it will take much longer to sell. This is in Southern California. It also seems that the buyer will remember that he bought your poor quality hay and offer less the rest of the year. We do not have hay this year (rotation year), but we learned to get rid of foxtail in alfalfa as soon as possible (raptor works good) even if it means a loss on a cutting.
