Subject: Wheat straw has a feed source for cows?

South Central Kansas, Harper County
I have plenty of unharvested wheat acres here in southern Kansas, and I have been swathing and baling some of if for hay. Some of the fields have quite a bit of crab grass, so I know it would make adequate feed for cows. I have read in the past about ammoniating wheat straw to increase the protein, has anyone experience with this? I also seem to remember reading where someone had injected a molasses solution into the big bales of wheat straw, making the cows really go after it, and adding protein by that method. Has anybody done this? If I wanted to, I could bale wheat straw off of about 700 acres, but think I would get tired of swathing and baling by that time!(lol)
