Subject: RE: Fencer ground rods

A ground rod manufacturer did a study about 15 or 20 years ago to see how much better copper ground rods were vs other metals, mainly galvanized rods.  The conductivity difference at first installation was negligable.  Conductivity 2-5 years later was better with copper by about 5% which was considered to not be a major differential.  Final determination was use the lowest cost metal, but be aware of differences of corrosion rates once corrosion starts.
