Sunnyvale, CA
what version firmware are you running in the EZ-Guide Plus? (go to the about screen in the setup menu. the latest released version is 3.10.027)
Is the OnPath filter turned on? (go to the setup GPS > Filter) what decay time do you have set? around trees a good time to use is 30 or 60 minutes, although in a specific situation an even longer or shorter time may work best for you. It sounds like from your description that your on path filter has been turned off or is set to a short time like 1 or 5 minutes. At your location in OH, you will have a low elevation to the WAAS satellite and you may lose differential correction around trees in the SW part of your fields.
