Subject: Re: Help! Netgear router question.

Grand Rapids, MI
Brian, I have done quite a bit of networking with both netgear and other "residential" grade routers. Bottom line is there is not a good "residential" grade router. Yet I still use them because the commercial grade stuff is 10x (literally) more expensive. Probably about 1/3 of the Netgear routers have problems new out of the box in my experience. And Netgear is the brand a guy I know who does multiple networks each week reccommends. He says he has enough junk Linksys routers he has made a chair of them...lol Of the Netgear routers I have installed, about 1/2 of them have to be power cycled at least once per week.

With your situation I can't figure out from your initial description how you have it set up. I can probably help you further if you could lay it out for me. Where is the modem? the router? what type of line did you run from the house to the shop and how long is it? What does it run between? Is one of the computers hooked up wirelessly? if so what type of adapter?
