I suggest that you go to the Garmin website and do a comparison of the various GPS models. some of them calculate area (acres), and some do not.

If you are going to store tile lines and save them, I would think that you need some kind of memory - internal or otherwise - to save those tile line marks, for downloading.  That might be another feature you need to pay attention to, as you do comparision shopping.
