The 7470 used to be a AMD K6 machine, which used a lot less power than the current Athlon/P4 chipsets. Like... half. I doubt that a K6 machine of that vintage even has a 200W power supply.

I'm hoping you didn't pay to have that thing follow you home... ;-)

If a Compaq follows me home, I usually strip out whatever I can use (DRAM sticks, functional disk drives, CD-ROMs, maybe the CPU chip) and then toss the rest of it, PS, mobo -- you name it. If I want to re-use the CPU, I go buy a "standard" mobo that will use the CPU.

Compaq went out of business for a reason. Their computers were steaming dung heaps.
