Loose head room with a bifold generally. We only lost ~6” with the hydraulic door. Our lights are closely mounted to the ceiling for that reason as well.
One ofthe main advantages of a bi-fold door is that you lose NO headroom. The top hinge is several feet above the opening. Like 718 I have built several and the turned out very nice. About the only drawback to a bi-fold IMO is the need to latch them in the middle. I have just done manual latches which although not perfect are very simple and dependable.
