Everything you need is on the GS3 pages. So the menu in the bottom right, then GS3. Then on the right side you want

1. Equipment - make sure the tractor and planter are filled out properly. Recording source there should be Auto and grayed out likely. 
2. Resources - make sure you have all these filled out
3. Document - make sure you have ONLY the crop you're planting and "New" as tabs at the top. Remove any others. Fill out the hybrid/variety here
4. Mapping - can decide what layers you want to see when it's mapping on the screen. 

Get those sorted out and it will paint on the screen and record what went where if you change it when you change crops or varieties
