Subject: Can I run a cow/calf pair with yearling heifers?

perryton, tx
I’m gonna preface this by saying I should have culled this cow but anyway I have one who last year as a 2 yr old first calver went back to sucking on her dam. I decided to get the 2nd calf out of her but I had to put her in a pen as soon as the dam’s milk started coming in. Now she has a 3 week old calf on her and I really don’t want to feed her hay all summer until the calf can be weaned. I could turn her and her calf in with some yearling heifers but I feel like I might end up with the same kind of situation with her getting sucked by one or more of the heifers.
