Subject: RE: sorghum sudex silage

West Central Iowa
I have made BMR Sorghum Sudan silage here in WC Iowa for multiple years. Clear seed it in mid-late May, cut/chop it 45-60 days later, then do that again in the fall. I bag mine, but after cutting, need to let it sit at least 3 days to get dry enough. I typically wait until I see the first flag leaf before I cut. Seed heads will start to emerge about 2-3 days later, Plants are typically over 6' tall, but my goal is higher tons......I could cut it sooner, but would give up tons in exchange for better feed value.
