Good cows will keep the coyotes at bay. I think coyotes are slightly blown out of proportion. I have a pair of red cows that will just about go through a HOT fence to come after the dog.

I start calving in June so planting is basically wrapped up. Cows act like deer when they calf on pasture and not uncommon for a calf to be a few weeks old before I routinely see it, mom does a good job keeping them hidden.

As far as tagging/banding should go out once every few days/week to work them while they are small. Give shots in the fall when they come off pasture
