Thumb of Michigan | Most of my cows calve on a smaller pasture, about 5 acres where they stay during the winter, where I feed. There's water and a lofting shed/barn. I start calving around 4-15. Those who haven't calved by May 15th, will then calve on somewhere on the whole pasture (about 40 acres), because I quit feeding and turn them out. However, most of the calves will be born in the smaller pasture though. Seems it's quieter, with the rest of the heard grazing on the new stuff. | |
