Agree with SD, after reading your post again, I would never replace pinion shaft and not the ring gear. All depends on what you find and how it comes apart, try Anderson Tractor Sales in Bluffton, Oh, they may have what you need. I really don't know if any parts interchange with a 4020, maybe more available.
Sd thought the same thing I did, I always towing them cooked the top shaft. My thought, water in oil, but that should be very easy to determine that.
If any specs are the same, I do have a 4020 book, easy to copy what you need.
