It has been around for over 50 years and was once a poor mans luncheon meat and used during the war to feed troops as it was canned and easy to keep... We ate it as a child sliced and fried on a sandwich..... I usually keep a cople of cans during the winter in case the electricity goes out as it is easy to fix.... It tends to be on the salty side. I like it. One of those things you either love or hate....lol... If you have a desire to try it I have a SPAM cookbook that was put out when it turned 50... it reminds me of chopped ham that you buy at the deli... | |
