Subject: Single women and initials in the phone book

I have wondered this for years. Who do single (divorced, widowed) women think they are kidding when they put on an initial or two in the phone book instead of a first name? For example, D Smith or D E Smith, instead of Dianne Smith. Everyone knows that the initials just means a single woman and one who is afraid of an obscene call. I honestly think some perverts would hone in those women. I realize caller ID has pretty much put the jolly phone callers out of business, but I still think it is something that just draws attention to yourself.
