East of Broken Bow | Look the harmonic balancer over good. I had an engine knock that sounded like something major wrong in a Cummins in my truck, and it turned out to be the harmonic balancer. If you have a known good 466, you already should have a replacement on hand to try. Not sure how they are on a 466, but on my Cummins the balancer has a movable piece inside a hollow donut that is supposed to be full of some sort of fluid. The fluid started leaking out, and I am assuming let the internal part rattle against the external part, that sounded to me like a knock from the lower front of the engine. | |
