Southeast Colorado
I changed about 50 transmissions in the late 80s on those models. It was my first mechanic job and I was at a Chevy dealer in Oklahoma. GM came out with a recall. Several of the oil pumping guys used these because they got better mileage than the full sized models. All 50 of them were completely packed with mud underneath. And the old shop I was in didn't have a lift. It was quite the education/initiation. The first one took me 2 days. By the 50th one I could easily do 2 a day.

All in all I wasn't very fond of those vehicles. In your case............I'd probably hope for the smaller engine as the fellow said above. But I'm sure you could make one work. They do have a narrow wheel base.............so not sure how that works on your roads?? Cow path style roads can be troublesome.
