west central ohio | During the heat of harvest about 3 weeks ago, I knew prices could only go up on corn and beans. The local elevators were so gracious to offer a $ 0.50 basis (3.56) corn.....and either not offer storage at all, or offer storage at bank robber prices. Additional ($0.40) . Now that I'm about 22 days out, they jump to a $0.06 basis..... I will again accept my mistakes of not being better prepared. But what these places don't understand is that they have just put themselves in a worse situation, as I can find it more profitable to let the deer and coons have it, whether it's in a pile, or standing in snow, than to let the local elevator steal it. | |
