Subject: 5.9 Cummins takes forever to build oil pressure

West Central IN
I have a Oliver tractor that I’ve repowered with a 5.9. Recently when I start it after it’s been shut off for awhile it takes 1-2 minutes on startup to build oil pressure. Once it gets pressure the pressure is and stays good. But it takes it long enough to build pressure that you can hear the engine hammering until the pressure builds. This is with a good mechanical pressure gauge. Is there a check valve in the oil system somewhere? Or what’s going on here?
