Moving the ridge defeats part of the purpose of ridge till in that it provides a stable, firm seed bed. In the 35 years I've been around our farm we've gone from conventional till, to ridge till, no-till, full tillage, and back to ridge till because for us it works the best. We run a root slicer/stumper after harvest/before planting to remove the old corn root ball and plant right on top of the old row.
Just curious because you are southwest me. Years did you use a lister to plant? Most people around my area used listers and go devils, just the opposite of ridge till which never took off here.
