Subject: RE: 1770nt will not lower

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I would check the 7 pin connector on the planter and tractor. I noticed that the ground pin in that connector on our 1770NT had apparently gotten "hot" as it showed signs of heat distortion so I replaced it. This is just a regular 7 pin connector as used on semi-trailers for lights etc. On the 1770NT planters, the lights and the power/ground for the hydraulic solenoids etc. is handled through that connector.

I have a kit of ferrules and a crimping tool for them for such jobs. A ferrule is a small metal band that is placed over each bare wire and crimped on with the crimping tool. This keeps the strands together to that when the terminal screw is tightened, it has a good surface to bite into. Without a ferrule, the strands of wire tend to get pushed around as you tighten the screw. This can result in a poor connection.
