Central Ga | My wife and I are at the age that the medical establishment recommends routine colonoscopies to screen for colon cancer. Neither of us are what we consider high risk, and there is no family history of colon cancer in either of our families. Furthermore neither of us are comfortable with what many would consider an invasive procedure, especially since we personally know several people that have had severe complications including one life threatening infection and two perforated colons as a result of having a colonoscopy.
So my wife is the medical guru in our family and has discovered the option of a virtual colonoscopy. It’s less invasive and apparently from what she has read can detect many other possible issues that simply running a camera inside your colon will not. Does anyone here have firsthand knowledge or thoughts concerning this procedure? Would love for WYDave to weigh in and give his perspective. | |
