Do you have the ability to do a really thorough inspection and maintenance in the off season? Older machines don't make as much sense if you are paying dealer for repairs. We try to keep older equipment in good working order and it feels like even with one machine you spend more time getting it ready, doing small repairs in season, and cleaning it up than you do using it. With two machines, most of that gets doubled, especially the cleaning.
If you have room to store 2, time and skill to do almost all repair and inspection yourself in the off season, and enough ground that you aren't changing oil after 60 hours because its been 3 years, then it could make sense. As they both get older and less reliable you will really have your hands full keeping them both running.
