8850 has a huge radiator but 1/4 of it sits way low and poor air flow so it's a struggle keeping it clean. They will stay cool if you keep the radiator clean. What are the engine and power train issues you are seeing with the 9000s? We have loved our 9020s


Did Kinze use a different radiator setup in the repower 8850?


Nope. Same radiator just plugged one hole on the top. We put a brand new radiator in ours when we did the repower, and could never get it hot. The Deere V8 was 955 cubes versus the 855, so the original rad was plenty big, but that was set at 400hp. I imagine if you went much higher, the cooling capacity was reduced somewhat.
