| Good morning all,
I'm thinking of trading round balers and I have a Deere 465M on a demo. I really like the baler and the trade but when I use it on alfalfa the feed wraps around several of the rollers and then the quality of the bales goes to heck. I'm guessing that the wrapped feed on the rolls throws off the tension on the belts and then the monitor is not getting good information about how the bale is building? I baled a small piece of 5th cutting Friday afternoon, should have been maybe 9 bales. The feed was short and a little on the green side of normal. The first 6 bales were fine but the next three were so badly shaped that the net did not go on properly and they were just a mess. I did clean the rolls Friday morning with a pressure washer and made sure they were absolutely clear of wrapped material from the last time I used it before I started.
Has anyone had this experience baling alfalfa with a belt baler? Is it a belt baler problem or a Deere problem? I have had three Krone 130's over the last 25 years and this is not a problem with them. Krone's have their issues, don't get me wrong and I was hoping to get away from them this time around but I'm beginning to wonder.
Thanks for any thoughts and experiences. | |
