Subject: RE: Donkey In with Cattle

How bad of coyote problems have you had with cattle? I have never had a coyote hurt a calf or cow, even when grazing heavily populated coyote areas. This is land that when sheep graze it you will have coyote attacks and possible losses even with good guardian animals.

One spring I was chiseling plowing and saw one try to "stalk" weaned calves grazing across the fence line that weighed 500-700 lbs. He was of course unsuccessful. Its hard for me to imagine a coyote doing much unless a cow was seriously injured or a calf was abandoned. Of course I am not saying its never happened but just really unlikely to be regular problem in my mind.
