When your say 100 percent mortality because it didn't work?

Yes every mature cow I tried it on died from pneumonia. We tried it on lactating dairy cows with hope of turning them around. One year I had several second lactation cows go down. After that we made sure all replacement heifers received two rounds of Bovi-Shield before breeding them. After that never seemed to have the problem.

In the early 90's I recall using Naxcel to treat BRD in weaned beef calves. We saved calves with it, but had a short shelf life. Vet had us using on mastitis cases infusing into infected teats. Saw good results with it. However unless person infusing and mixing it followed instructions, didn't work very well with hired milkers. At that point we went to mastitis tubes with short infusion tubes. I recall Naxcel cutting a fever in cattle if I recall.

I've used Excede on horses with lung problems with great success. Does anyone still use Naxcel? That seemed to be the biggest drawback of ceftiofur drugs to me was storage and shelf life.
