| Cow calf operation, wean calves this time of year 450-500 lbs, sell in March or April at 7-900 lbs depending on the market and hay situation. Have been looking at sending them to a feedlot rather than selling the last few years. A couple times it would pay, a couple times it wouldn’t. What is the general guidance here? Keep doing what we have always done or explore going to the feedlot harder? How accurate on the online calculators? Have had mid American feedlots do a crush, but they always come back it’s profitable, so I have my doubts about trusting them. Thanks. | |
