If you want to be a purist get a smoker that you can use chips and lump charcoal. I have gone over to the "other side" and got a pellet smoker-Rec-Teq 700.
Have smoked just about everything including making Chex-Mix!
Whatever you decide the time spent will be with family and friends so ENJOY!
