Subject: Question on backgrounding cattle

SW Minnesota
Just wondering a little bit on getting calves in around 350-500 lb and feed them to around 7-800lbs, is there any way to protect yourself on the price? I know when you fatten them out you can lock in a price with the packaging plant but or there is LGM insurance, but what can I do with the backgrounding end? Just trying to learn more about this.
