Chebanse, IL..... | Our American Legion post had it's annual "Pull In The Park" barnyard class on Sept 10. It was a beautiful day with a great turnout. Pedal pull for kids & barnyard class tractors. A friend of ours has a tandem tractor (aka piggyback) hitch similar to ours. He has 2 JD G's hooked together. His was built a few yrs ago & he designed it so as to use hydraulics to run the run rear tractor clutch & throttle. Our hitch (IH 400/IH M) was built by our Dad & Uncle 63 yrs ago and is totally mechanically operated.
Jeff challenged me to a "grudge match" exhibition pull at the Pull In The Park. We both plow with the piggy-backs, but haven't pulled against each other. We sold "50/50" drawing type "pick the winner" tickets before the match. I really wasn't sure which of us would win. JD Gs can run pretty strong. We pulled the same sled as everyone else. Low gear on all the tractors.
First time thru, we both made it out the end of the track for a full pull. Sled operator added more weight & we hooked again.
The Ticket winner made a few dollars which he used to buy auction items later on the track. The Legion made a few bucks from the drawing, and the winning driver donated his $$ back to the Legion.
Who do you think won?
