The usual place for corrosion that you need to worry about is internal. I would screw the drain valve fitting out and scratch around inside the tank bottom with a piece of wire etc and see how much rust is in the two tanks. You might be using the best one or the worst one.
I think the old tanks had far thicker steel than the new imports, but they can still get weak. | |
