Subject: Freezer beef math

I know this is Pandora’s box and I don’t need an exact figure and it’s extremely variable depending on feed quality and cattle genetics. Let’s say I had dairy beef cross bottle calves. How much hay would you say it would take to feed that calf from weaning to butcher? I grow and sell hay, know the cost, the grains a little easier to calculate. Thinking of adding some feeder cattle for freezer beef to use up hay that isn’t quite horse quality or if I get some rained on. I know the hay cost, I know the going rate of freezer beef and I know how much the calves are. Just trying to get a rough idea on the cost of hay, therefore looking to calculate a rough idea of lbs of hay feed over that animals lifetime. Lots of variables. Just wondering agtalks thoughts. Trying to see if it makes sense
