northeast ohio | If you are comfortable with the EZSteer systems then that’s perfectly fine. My recommendation is if there isn’t a huge price difference making the leap from a CFX750 to GFX750 or XCN1050 with RTK unlock then you are picking up quite a few advantages with limited downside.
Downside - learning a new operating platform.
Advantages - greater satellite capabilities with the NAV900 antenna, Glonass and other constellations without additional unlocks. PIQ operating platform which will continue to be updated and supported. WiFi capabilities for apps, data transfer including autosync to Trimble farm software and corrections if you are in a VRS area (so no Bluetooth device, radio, or modem once you pay unlock). GFX with PIQ will also be better for seed monitoring if you don’t already have a PP 20/20.
The NAV900 antenna requires a cable and unlock to function with EZSteer. Not sure what the dealer price on this is but EBay through an online dealer is <$600. The advantage of the NAV900 is you can unlock it to the next step of EZPilot Pro which uses the motor under the steering wheel. Superior to EZSteer in engagement angle or 45 degrees plus it will stay engaged 15 seconds when stopped or reversing. You will get as much invested in the EZPilot Pro unlock, motor and cabling as a full EZPilot but those performance advantages and less in cab components are worth it. There are additional unlocks to CAN steering if your tractor is capable or to autopilot motor drive (using the EZPilot pro motor) that brings performance to hydraulic level.
