Subject: Joe do you want to know why the I states are such babies?

I guess if our yield goal was 150 like Kansas we wouldn't care if the corn rolls. Sure it can be dry and get a few rains still make 150 but I have a news flash for you many guys have fields in the I states they are trying to make 250+. Those kind of yields aren't achieved with a crop that suffers much stress at all. For many of us inputs, rents, land payments etc are based on achieving yields much higher than most other states. Try having some $400 rent and see what you think about your 6 inch tall corn rolling at the end of May. Do you consider an insurance claim a good financial year most of the time? Well there is a bunch of acres that can easily have a claim with a 180 yield so yeah I think we need to put some perspective on the fact geography has a major influence on expectations.
