Subject: RE: Help on wiring 135 massey alternator

Faunsdale, AL
That’s an external regulator delco. I replaced the last one I had here with a 10SI internal regulator Delco. I just looked and I pulled off all the wires from the regulator so I don’t have anything to go by to tell you how they hooked up.

That being said……..
Look for a large full time hot wire to go to the big output stud. It’s possible they still used a cutout so it might get hot only with key on. The cutout is probably a small metal can/box relay mounted near the regulator which has 4 terminals I think I saw on the old C60 Chevrolet truck.

Might not have a cutout, later models did not, but that alternator was the first thing after generators I think, so it’s likely the plan was similar. So find the big, full time hot or big wire that gets hot when you turn on the key. Green is an unlikely color for that wire but who knows.

I’ll look for a wiring diagram that might help.
