Gosh, that seems to be the opposite around here. Everyone cusses brome and wants native grasses. Our brome plays out here in june, and is worth less till September, when i cools down and we get a shot of rain. Gain on native grasses is usually better. Brome works early here but can be tough to manage. Having some brome, and some warm season natives have worked well for myself. But its all about management. In a drought smooth brome will be one of the first to brown up where the root system on the natives is a lot deeper. Infiltration on natives is a lot better than brome also.
