Subject: Wood Rotting Repairing Buildings, What to treat


Central Illinois
Looking for advice on getting boards to last repairing barns. We have repaired several barns/buildings over the years and the wood only last 5 years or so before rotting. Have primed with oil base primer then painted but still rots. This is siding boards, not ground contact. What do you all treat with to make last? Is there some sort of primer or prep to make it last? Very frustrating when you take the time and expense to repair and it doesnt last. Meanwhile the old boards that have been exposed for 50 years seem to hold up. Guess they don't make wood like they use to
