We provided the feed for our kids 4-H beef and swine projects.   They had to pay for the animals  but we provided the feed.   Each bought a gilt and got some farm "show "Pigs"  to show.   Those pigs they didn't have to pay for.   They were employed on the hog farm at WAYYYYYY below avg. wages.   We provided one of our vehicles, gas and insurance.  ( if they didn't qualify for the good student discount they would have paid the difference).   

Good Grades and activities.   Kids can make more per hour filling out scholarship applications,  than power washing a hog building.
