A pretty sure fire method is a shower of rain coming in! The swarm will land and cluster up to protect the Queen and as many workers as possible.
The old wives’ tales are universal. I had to laugh when a neighbor who is originally from Mexico grabbed a piece of steel and a hammer and started “ringing” away when a swarm came along one day.
