coast of Maine | I grew up as the son of a 2000 hive beekeeper.Was used to bees from an early age.I got off the kindergarten bus and mom worried says we have a swarm on a guy wire guard.I can remember that sunny June day as plain as can be.Got dads smoker going and a hive body and lid.Set beneath that wire guard and shook them down.I had put on a bee veil,,I was not even 6 years old.Bees are a migratory process here,dad was likely away moving bees up from NJ.A very difficult Biz now with all the disease issues and hive declines and bugs that actually lay eggs in the honey,,tough. | |
