Off topic but that is a beautiful even stand of corn Blustery....was that "organic" seed?
That's a non treated Pioneer waxy. I'd say more attributable to the situation than the seed source. Rye cover crop terminated several weeks ahead of planting and and planted in perfect soil conditions.
Another field planted same day with 4 row strips of 8 different varieties (half conventional non treated and half organic) shows variability between hybrids and there's spotty insect feeding because I spread bed pack manure early in the year and planted 9 days after shallow tilling the cover crop. Should have waited a few more days to plant, but...
First two photos an organic hybrid in different levels of residue cover before hoeing. Third is a Conventional non treated after hoeing. Not thrilled by how much it is covered, but very few have the whorl pinned shut, so running anyhow. Then I'll stay off until I can row cultivate unless it rains promptly.
