East central Iowa | Just finished making waterway hay. Normally get 35-45 bales this year 16. We were dry then May 6 got 3+ inches fast and lots of hail. No rain in last 21 days.
My hay field a few miles away will bale today. Probably 60% of normal alfalfa blooming so time to cut.
Just not the big first cutting we usually get. Pasture has no re- growth, has stopped in last two weeks, actually starting to feed some hay to sheep.
Never have fed hay on June 1st.
Maybe July will be cool and wet. | |
