NW IA | Over the years it has been my unscientific observation that there is a window of opportunity at the time of first cutting that if missed will leave you with a wet pattern to deal with. Somewhat based on this bogus theory I cut my hay Tuesday night with a 5-day 0% chance of rain in the forecast. Now I hope that the iffy chances for rain in the forecast develope into the wet pattern aspect of the theory.
The dry forecast held, but it was almost a bit too much. Baled the hay Saturday morning at 5 AM, and it hadn't toughend up at all over night.
